Of Events, Trains and Steam

This weekend The National Railway Museum is hosting its first Steampunk Expo.  It was a fantastic great opportunity to enjoy the wonderful weather, check out the historical trains and steampunk it up!  I rounded up the family and, with my trusty camera and notebook in hand, headed out to Port Adelaide for an enjoyable outing.

Little did they realise my ulterior motive. I now have the first hand (recent) experience of coal smoke – the smell and the atmosphere of the amazing roof of steam that swirled above our heads. I snapped photos of under the carriage, the tracks the various interiors. I resisted the temptation to crawl under the carriage to see how much wiggle room there really is.

It was a successful outing, made even more enjoyable by the pleasant company of friends.

Thanks to Catherine Curl of Geeky Key Art Studio, of for this snapshot.
